At Bright Start Early Education Center, we realize that choosing the right preschool with a strong preschool curriculum is an important decision for your child’s future. We want you to feel certain that you’ve chosen a preschool that focuses on learning yet appreciates the significance of fun and making friends. Our preschool learning activities encourage your child’s development without encouraging him or her to grow up too fast! Our curriculum offers preschool math and language practice, music activities for children, and much more. We know that you want your child to be cared for by teachers who keep him or her feeling safe and loved while nurturing his or her personality and unique abilities. At Bright Start Early Education Centers, we will give this dedicated care to your child!
Work. Play. Learn.
All of the planned activities in preschool help to enhance valuable skills. Literacy is supported through reading, storytelling, language building, letter recognition, and phonetics. As your child is preparing for Kindergarten, we will work with him/her on writing skills. Fine and gross motor skills are developed through a variety of strengthening exercises: Sensory awareness is gained through tactile play. Art, crafts, music, and pretend play encourages creativity, expression, and imagination. Cognitive skills develop through science experiments and math/number games (working with shapes, sorting, graphing, counting practice, etc.). It is our educational philosophy that children learn best through a variety of experiences, including PLAY! We provide many academic-based activities and plenty of time for self-directed play in the many “centers” or interest areas in the classroom.
Learning Centers
The preschool classroom itself is also an invaluable tool to promote child education and development. Our classrooms are carefully designed to delight, intrigue, and inspire young learners. Each classroom space is divided into Learning Centers such as Language and Circle Time, Blocks and Creativity, and Art. Each center invites your child to marvel at and explore the wonders of the world around him. No matter which area captures your child’s interest on a particular day, he or she will be developing important skills.
Learning Centers include:
- Circle Time: This is where your child starts the day through meaningful experiences like storytelling, singing songs, show-and-tell, and matching games. Children learn to express their ideas, associate the written word with the spoken word, and discover their world independently.
- Art: Art is a hands-on activity for your child. Children experience art through the freedom of touching, feeling, pulling, twisting, tearing, pasting, bending, scraping, cutting, pounding, shaping, and so much more. Preschoolers are developing a feel for forms, balance, line, color, and shape, as well as gaining practice in problem-solving. They are learning about various relationships, sharpening their powers of observation, beginning the process of logical thinking, and developing motor skills.
- Music: Music activities for children allow them to use their entire bodies for learning and exploring their surroundings. Young children build awareness through music by listening to the many kinds of sounds, and they experience the release and freedom of body movement. Children will be encouraged to test their vocal and kinesthetic abilities and to have fun while they are experimenting. Valley Learning Centers emphasizes the enjoyment of participation!
- Blocks: This is a center where children can build preschool math skills by stacking and counting blocks and learning the concepts of number, measurement, size, and weight. Blocks also develop hand-eye coordination, control of young wrists, hands, fingers, and problem-solving skills.
- Dramatic Play: We have dress-up clothes, props, and child-sized furniture that invite children to make-believe. They can try careers, learn to share, make friends, and express different emotions. Children also learn life skills like turning knobs on and off or buttoning and zipping clothes.
- Math: Math is a way of finding things out and solving problems. With our preschool math activities, children learn sorting and counting skills, patterning, and putting materials in order. Through manipulating materials, children also begin to understand basic concepts, such as big/little, large/small, and same/different.
- Science: Children have the opportunity to participate in hands-on, real-life activities that encourage a sense of discovery. Our science activities include interacting with living things, using magnets and magnifiers, and playing at sand and water tables.
As your child moves from center to center, his or her preschool teacher will act as a guide who will listen to ideas, applaud progress and motivate your child to envision new ideas and think in new ways.
NPS Bright Beginnings Academy PreK
Our pre-kindergarten program at Bright Start Early Education is offered through a collaborative partnership with Norman Public Schools. The PreK program is approved by the Oklahoma Department of Education and taught by a certified teacher. We currently offer two sessions-morning and afternoons for 2 ½ hours each. Our liaison school is Roosevelt Elementary School. We are proud to be one of the first collaborative programs in the state of Oklahoma as we celebrate our second decade of serving Norman’s children.
